Overview

Community Health Work Level 4 is ideal for the candidates who do not have a grade 12 qualification, but would like to enter a career path in the medical field. Learners with a grade 12 pass has an added advantage. Learners who complete these full qualifications and skills programme will possess the competence required to perform ancillary health functions in the medical field. After training the candidates will be awarded a further education and training certificate and will be eligible for certain credit recognition in various higher education health qualifications. All these courses are accredited by and certified by the Health and Welfare Sector Education and Training Authority (HWSETA).

Course Description


Community Health Work Level 4 will equip the learner with essential skills and knowledge to perform Ancillary Health Care functions. Core unit standards consist of understanding and applying primary health care within a community, HIC and AIDS information and treatment options. The course also covers information about dealing with Tuberculosis. Learners will also be taught how to perform first aid.

 

Upon completion you will be able to:


Assist in planning and implementing promotion programs for Health Care within communities.
Assist in the facilitation and implementation of primary health care projects within the community.
Achieve ancillary health care objectives within own community/work context.
